ABOUT RICHARD

Pastor Richard Vega

Richard Vega was born in Pasadena, Texas. Growing up in a single parent home put Richard at a disadvantage from most kids. These setbacks became setups as Richard received the opportunity to see kids and families in need. These experiences gave Richard a compassion to help serve and protect those in need, while supporting those families that are doing well too.

Life Education and Military Career

Richard’s desire to serve, led him to the United States Army. He served for several years, when a military training exercise at the National Training Center left him injured and medically retired from the military. The pictures of families in need, never left his heart and caused him to see how else he could serve his community and country.

College

In 2006 Richard enrolled into college, while providing for his family at the United States Postal Service.  He knew the importance of obtaining a degree because he would be the first one in his family to obtain a college education. Richard was dedicated to move forward and progress to show his children that if he can do it then anybody can do it no matter what the obstacles were. He proudly graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management.

New Beginning

Richard met his wife in 2010 who he had known since junior high and high school. They began to go to church, married in 2011 and raised six kids inside their blended household. Richard never looking back knew that God had purpose in his life that he needed to fulfill. He knew he was created for something very special. During this time, Richard went heavy into ministry coordinating outreaches and conducting many different events in the community especially during natural disasters.

Pastor

Richard found the opportunity to serve in a greater scale as a Pastor and Non-Profit leader. He began to serve his constituents and community members through Disaster Relief, large scale food drives and support for the community educational system. Richard was able to serve the community through Hurricane Harvey by serving over 33,000 meals and acquiring 10 18 wheelers of resources. In 2020, he served over 100,000 meals, provided shoes for front-line workers, helped veterans, homeless and schools with resources. During the Great Freeze of 2021, he was able to provide water and resources to the elderly and at-risk children in the community, while serving over 10,000 meals.

Community

All of this, just continued to stoke the fire in Richard’s heart to serve those in need. As Richard served, his voice began to grow in the community. He was able to use his platform to help agendas that would negatively affect Harris County families, get turned down; including lobbying for Texas legislation to protect girls’ sports. At this point, Richard saw that his whole life was building up to this one moment, where he saw, he was created to serve as a community servant, in the political arena.

Richard Vega is now asking you to join him as he goes after Harris County Commissioner Precinct 2, to better serve families and his communities.
